Villa De Prajogi is designed as a retirement villa for its owners, who work in Jakarta and are passionate about sports. The chosen location is a remote area in Gianyar, Bali, providing a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Spanning a land area of 400 square meters, the villa offers ample space for relaxation and leisure. The villa itself is a two-story structure with a lush green garden and a swimming pool.

The villa features a U-shaped floor plan with the main functions located on the ground floor. The living area is situated in the right wing, while the master bedroom occupies the left wing. Both of these areas have direct access to the swimming pool, creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. This arrangement is designed to facilitate easy access to all primary activities, ensuring that the residents can fully enjoy their retirement. They also apply smart-home systems that fit their modern lives, while making it easier for them to enjoy their
retirement.

The living area, which includes the family room, dining room, and kitchen, is designed without partition walls, giving the space an open and expansive feel. This open-plan layout enhances the sense of spaciousness and allows for fluid movement and interaction between the different areas. In addition, the villa includes a dedicated room for displaying the owner’s bicycle collection. This room is designed as a glass box and is directly connected to the garage. The glass box design allows for an unobstructed view of the bicycles from various angles, adding a modern and sleek aesthetic to the space. The design of Villa De Prajogi is inspired by the desire to infuse the space with authentic Bali vibes, offering a distinct contrast to the urban atmosphere of Jakarta. To achieve this, the villa incorporates elements of Balinese architecture, creating a strong tropical ambiance. The main entrance features a traditional Gebyok Bali gate, adding a cultural and aesthetic touch. To ensure harmony throughout the villa, the green hue of the Gebyok Bali gate is echoed in the interior design, maintaining a cohesive and unified look.

Despite being constructed on a limited budget, the villa’s design cleverly maximizes the tropical feel by using cost-effective materials. Instead of relying heavily on natural materials, the design incorporates artificial materials to create the desired aesthetic. This approach not only keeps the project within budget but also allows for greater creativity and flexibility in achieving a tropical atmosphere. One of the key strategies employed to enhance this tropical vibe is the use of planter boxes on the second floor, bringing greenery and a sense of nature into the upper levels of the villa.
